Review

Today is my stop on the #BlogTour organised by @The_Writereads. Thank you to them for the audible copy of the book they sent me in exchange for an honest review.

I love fast paced multiple POV fantasy stories and this one definitely delivered that! I really loved the worldbuilding, it's such an interesting place and the history is woven into the storytelling really well. I did love Maya, generally timid characters tend to annoy me but there was just something about Maya that made her endearing. And the romance was incredibly sweet, I did really like that development. The characters are all well rounded and I liked following them all on their journeys.

The narrator for the audiobook was really good, he had a unique voice for everybody and definitely helped get me absorbed into the world. The only issue I had was the strange musical interludes at the end of paragraphs or scenes but once I got used to them they were less jarring and it didn't effect my enjoyment of the actual story. 

Overall a solid 4 stars and I will definitely be on the lookout for the sequels in audio too. 

Meet the Author - Marcus Lee

​Writing hasn’t always been my main hobby, but it has always been there, lurking in the shadows. And it  served me  well when called upon.

As I look back over the years, I realise I was guilty of writing many short stories, as well as poetry. And I’d like to think, that even if they were never meant for publishing, they were nonetheless warmly received by the intended recipients.

Then in 2019, I had an inspiration to write not just a short story, or poetry, but a book. Then, suddenly, one book turned into a trilogy and a labour of love, and it was a love I wanted to share with the world.

‘The Gifted and the Cursed.’ is my first offering to the world of fantasy and it’s a trilogy that I firmly believe will have wide appeal for it touches upon so many sub-genres.
