Fairyloot Unboxing May 2020

This is the unboxing of the May 2020 FairyLoot box. (What follows will contain spoilers so please do not read if you don't want to know what is in the box)

FairyLoot is a monthly book subscription box mainly focusing on fantasy YA and YA crossovers. Each month you receive a new release book, mostly hardback and 4-6 bookish items which fit in with the theme.

The theme this month was Desert Dreams

The artwork on the spoiler card was very appropriate to the theme.

The first item was a beautiful tin with a quote from We hunt the flame on it designed by @chattynora, it is gorgeous and I am looking forward to storing my loose leaf tea in it.

Next there was an Alwyn Hamilton inspited wooden spoon engraved by @kdpletters, this item is possibly my favourite ever item. And a City of Brass inspired teatowel designed by @eviebookish, I love the look of this tea towel a lot.

Next up there was a candle by @wickandfable inspired by An Ember in the Ashes and desert sands bathsalts by Little Heart Gifts. The candle smells amazing and I am looking forward to using the bath salts in my footspa.

The last item before the tarot cards was a sunglasses pouch by @kitstercronk.

As always the box included the two latest tarot cards - this time they were Aelin and Rowan from Throne of Glass. This months cards were designed by @gabriella.bujdoso.

The book this month was Girl, Serpent, Thorn by Melissa Bachardoust which was signed directly by the author, had an exclusive pink cover design, sprayed edges and artwork on the dustjacket, and included an author letter with additional artwork.

Synopsis: 

There was and there was not, as all stories begin, a princess cursed to be poisonous to the touch. But for Soraya, who has lived her life hidden away from everyone, apart from her family, safe only in her gardens, it's not just a story.

As the day of her twin brother's wedding approaches, Soraya must decide if she's willing to step outside of the shadows for the first time. Below in the dungeon is a demon who holds knowledge that she craves, the answer to her freedom. And above is a young man who isn't afraid of her, whose eyes linger not with fear, but with an understanding of who she is beneath the poison.

Soraya thought she knew her place in the world, but when her choices lead to consequences she never imagined, she begins to question who she is and who she is becoming . . . human or demon. Princess or monster.

I thought this box was really strong, even the fandoms I am not part of the items were strong enough and pretty enough that I will use them. Also really looking forward to reading the book.
