Right from the start this book had intrigue, mystery, magic and a set of characters I wanted to read more about. The magic set up is really interesting and not something I had really seen before. But by far my favourite character was Ferius, who is a smart talking, intelligent woman who against her better judgement comes to care for Kellen. And all of that is even before we get to the talking squirrel cat!
I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars and I really want to read more by Sebastien de Castell now.
