Hello readers!
In this post I am going to be telling you what my most anticipated book releases are for the first half of this year. Obviously this is by no means an exhaustive list it is purely the ones I know about and am currently excited for.
Release date: 9th February 2017 by Tor HQ
Blurb: Despite the odds, Yelena and Valek have forged an irrevocable bond―and a family―that transcends borders. Now, when their two homelands stand on the brink of war, they must fight with magic and cunning to thwart an Ixian plot to invade Sitia.
Yelena seeks to break the hold of the insidious Theobroma that destroys a person's resistance to magical persuasion. But the Cartel is determined to keep influential citizens and Sitian diplomats in thrall―and Yelena at bay. With every bounty hunter after her, Yelena is forced to make a dangerous deal.
With might and magic, Valek peels back the layers of betrayal surrounding the Commander. At its rotten core lies a powerful magician…and his latest discovery. The fate of all rests upon two unlikely weapons. One may turn the tide. The other could spell the end of everything.
Why it’s on my list: I have loved this series since I first read Poison Study which I got from one of my best friends for my birthday in 2010. So I am very excited to read the last installment.
Release date: 9th February 2017 by Orion
Blurb: Mare Barrow is a prisoner, powerless without her lightning, tormented by her mistakes. She lives at the mercy of a boy she once loved, a boy made of lies and betrayal.
Now a king, Maven continues weaving his web in an attempt to maintain control over his country - and his prisoner.
As Mare remains trapped in the palace, the remnants of the Red Rebellion continue organizing and expanding. As they prepare for war, no longer able to linger in the shadows, Cal - the exiled prince with his own claim on Mare's heart - will stop at nothing to bring her back.
In this breathless new novel from the bestselling author of the Red Queen series, blood will turn on blood and allegiances will be tested on every side. If the Lightning Girl's spark is gone, who will light the way for the rebellion?
Why it’s on my list: I only discovered this series late in 2016 into early 2017 but found I really enjoyed it. If I am honest it's appeal for me lies in the supporting characters but I am excited to see what happens as the end of the last book was a pretty big cliffhanger.
Release date: 2nd March 2017 by Scholastic
Blurb: The final battle is coming... As the Sleeping Prince tightens his hold on Lormere and Tregellan, the net closes in on the ragged band of rebels trying desperately to defeat him. Twylla and Errin are separated, isolated, and running out of time. The final battle is coming, and Aurek will stop at nothing to keep the throne forever..
Why it’s on my list: I picked up this book purely because the cover followed me after it's release. I kept seeing it everywhere and really enjoyed it. Also Melinda is one of the loveliest people ever and has a fun social media presence too. I'm looking forward to the conclusion of this trilogy.
Release date: 25th April 2017 by Margaret K. McElderry Books
Blurb: Experience Cassandra Clare s internationally bestselling world of the Shadowhunters like never before with this intricate adult coloring book featuring forty-five all-new illustrations!
From the hallowed halls of the New York Institute to the glimmering glass buildings of Alicante, from the depths of the city of bones to the forests of faerie, the world of Cassandra Clare s Mortal Instruments series comes to life like never before in this stunning coloring book. The forty-five illustrations face text excerpts, highlighting never-before-illustrated scenes from The Mortal Instruments.
Why it’s on my list: I have a big weakness for colouring books and I am a huge fan of Cassandra Clare so I am really excited for this release. Also the fact that Cassandra Jean has drawn the illustrations only adds to the excitement.
Release date: 2nd May 2017 by Bloomsbury
Blurb: Feyre has returned to the Spring Court, determined to gather information on Tamlin's manoeuvrings and the invading king threatening to bring Prythian to its knees. But to do so she must play a deadly game of deceit - and one slip may spell doom not only for Feyre, but for her world as well.
As war bears down upon them all, Feyre must decide who to trust amongst the dazzling and lethal High Lords - and hunt for allies in unexpected places.
Why it’s on my list: Because I need to know what happens to Feyre and Rhysand and everybody in the Inner Circle! I cannot wait for this book and it is definitely I think my most anticipated book. I need to know what happens!
Release date: 2nd May 2017 by Bloomsbury
Blurb: This must-have companion invites readers to experience and colour in the vivid imagery of Sarah J. Maas's #1 New York Times bestselling A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Forty-six pieces of stunning original artwork bring to life favourite characters, creatures and moments, including the lush beauty of the Spring Court and the glimmering allure of the Night Court. Join Feyre as she falls in love, wages war and explores the haunting and deadly world of the Fae.
Why it’s on my list: Again it's another colouring book for one of my favourite series. I am going to have to have it.
Release date: 23rd May 2017 by Simon and Schuster
Blurb: Emma Carstairs has finally avenged her parents. She thought she’d be at peace. But she is anything but calm. Torn between her desire for her parabatai Julian and her desire to protect him from the brutal consequences of parabatai relationships, she has begun dating his brother, Mark. But Mark has spent the past five years trapped in Faerie; can he ever truly be a Shadowhunter again?
And the faerie courts are not silent. The Unseelie King is tired of the Cold Peace, and will no longer concede to the Shadowhunters’ demands. Caught between the demands of faerie and the laws of the Clave, Emma, Julian, and Mark must find a way to come together to defend everything they hold dear—before it’s too late.
Why it’s on my list: I adore Cassandra Clare and the Shadowhunter universe so I will always be excited for another release. And I have been waiting far too long to see what is going to happen ;)
