Details:

Title: Frostheart
Author: Jamie Littler
Publisher: Puffin
ISBN 13: 978-0241355220

Synopsis:
Way out in the furthest part of the known world, a tiny stronghold exists all on its own, cut off from the rest of human-kin by monsters that lurk beneath the Snow Sea.
There, a boy called Ash waits for the return of his parents, singing a forbidden lullaby to remind him of them... and doing his best to avoid his very, VERY grumpy yeti guardian, Tobu.
But life is about to get a whole lot more crazy-adventurous for Ash.
When a brave rescue attempt reveals he has amazing magical powers, he's whisked aboard the Frostheart, a sleigh packed full of daring explorers who could use his help. But can they help him find his family . . . ?
Review:
Ash feels like there is a song in his soul but he comes from a place where singing and music is seen as bad so he tried to suppress who he is, which doesn't always go well. When he learns more about his parents who disappeared a long time ago can he find the courage to follow a path they may have left for him?

Ash was such a sweet caring young boy, he tries his best in even the most dire of circumstances despite being treated terribly in some cases. I got very angry with the people in the stronghold where he grew up, they were not very nice people at all especially given poor Ash being an orphan. But the crew of the Frostheart were another matter entirely. I loved getting to know them all and seeing how different they all were but how they came together as a unit. I especially loved Lunah who was a delightful mix of eccentric and smart.

Overall I adored this book and while I may have seen what was coming before it happened I still loved reading it. The illustrations were also brilliant and added another level to the story. Definitely looking forward to the next book.

I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.
