The Bookternet 'All Star' charity challenge

This was created by Rachael on YouTube it is a charity challenge to help raise money for charity during the Covid pandemic. The idea is to go through the bingo type board she created of popular YA books/series and to talk about if you have or haven't read them and why.

I am excited! So let's get on it!

Angie Thomas
(The Hate You Give & On the Come Up)

I have not read anything by Angie Thomas as she is more of a jard hitting contemporary writer and I am just not that kind of reader. I have no doubt her books are important and good but just not for me.

Shatter Me Series by Taharah Mafi

This one I have no interest in reading. It doesn't interest me and just isn't one that appeals.

Leigh Bardugo

I have read 3 Leigh Bardugo books. Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom which I adore. Shadow & Bone which is the first in the Grisha Trilogy and I wasn't as keen on.

I do own books 2 and 3 in the Grisha trilogy, King of Scars and Language of Thorns and do plan on reading them at some point.

Ninth House I have zero interest in after seeing some reviews and the trigger warnings.

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black

I have read the whole trilogy, but I have to admit I wasn't overly keen on Cruel Prince. However I had heard the second book was better and when I read it I agreed. It's a decent trilogy and an easy read.

The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco

I haven't read this. I do have it on audio but unsure when I will get to it.

VE Schwab

I have a shelf dedicated to VE Schwab and adore all of her books. I own all of them (though have to admit I still need to read Our Dark Duet and The Dark Vault) and love her writing.

Cinder by Marissa Meyer

I read the whole Lunar Chronicles series in 2019 and adored them all! Definitely a top scifi series.

Adam Silvera

I DNF'd Infinity Son by Adam Silvera and have not tried any of his other books. I am just not sure he is an author for me.

Cassandra Clare

I am a huge Shadowhunters fan and have read all of her books set in this world. I have quite a bit of merchandise and special editions too. Safe to say I adore her.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

I am afraid this doesn't interest me at all and I don't intend to read it. It's just not my kind of thing.

Laini Taylor

I have read and loved Strange the Dreamer and Muse of Nightmares and I own her Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy but have yet to read them. I do plan on it though. I like her writing a lot.

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

I really  enjoyed this series, it's fun and unique and really engaging. I didn't think I would like it as much as I did but it was brilliant. And let me to other things by both authors.

Scythe by Neal Shusterman

I loved this trilogy, it's a brilliantly clever dystopian which completely breaks you but keeps you hooked. I have recommended this to others too.

Sarah J Maas

I really enjoyed the Throne of Glass series to begin with but over the years it has lots it's shine a little for me as I discovered other, dare I say better, authors. I have read all of Throne of Glass and ACOTAR including the novella. And once Crescent City comes out in paperback I will read that too but she isn't an author who I rush to read anymore.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I love this series and am really looking forward to reading the final book which is due out this year!!!!

Seanan McGuire

I have and like the Wayward Children series but have yet to read any full length series by her. Though I do own Middlegame on kindle.

The Poppy War by R F Kuang

I have not read this yet though I have a friend who really enjoyed it. I am unsure if it is one I will eventually read or not.

To All the boys I loved before by Jenny Han

Again this is a contemporary so not really something I am interested in so I won't be reading this series.
