Illumicrate - February/March Unboxing

So today I am going to be unboxing the February/March 2017 Illumicrate box which I was looking forward to since I have come to love unboxings. (What follows will contain spoilers so please do not read if you don't want to know what is in the box)

Illumicrate is a quarterly book subscription box. Within each box you receive a new release book along with various bookish items.

Now onto the unboxing (Spoiler filled post under the cut)

The first thing I noticed was how much the box rattled, so I admit I hoped nothing was broken but thankfully it was all intact.

The first item in the box was a little pouch with a bear design on it along with a lipbalm and a book sampler. The pouch was nice and the lip balm was very sweet smelling.

Next there were 2 magnets with quotes from A Darker Shade of Magic on them, these were really nice and are already on my radiator. Then there was a Newt Scamander bookmark and 2 little promotional cards.

  

Next up before the main book was an ARC copy of Red Sister by Marc Lawrence, I was very happy about this as it is on my wishlist for when it comes out in April so I am very happy to have this before it's released.

Then came the main event, the book this time was Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones which is also on my wishlist of books to buy but I have to admit I was slightly disappointed that it was the paperback version. Though it did come with a signed bookplate and a bookmark.

Synopsis:

With time and the old laws working against her, Liesl must discover who she truly is before her fate is sealed.

I have to admit I was a little disappointed in this box. While there are things I loved like the magnets and the ARC I do feel it was lacking in effort and the fact that the book included was one I could have gotten myself for £5 on amazon left me feeling like I definitely didn't get my monies worth.

It is a shame and means that I think this will be my first and last Illumicrate box.
