I got this book in my February Fairyloot and since it looked like a relatively quick read I started it straight away. It was a good story and the pace was very fast, I enjoyed the dual points of view and exploration of the two main protagonists. While I did see some of the twists coming it still held enough interest to keep me reading and honestly some of the things mentioned in this book about hatred and scare mongering are particularly relevant at the moment.
The one thing I did have an issue with was the book blurb stating that Rhee and Aly are 'thrown together' when in actual fact they do not meet at all. The book focuses on their individual journeys but so far they have not interacted. I am sure this will change in the second book especially with the final revelation. And honestly it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book it was just a little thing I picked up on.

I gave Empress of a Thousand Skies 4.5 out of 5 stars. It was a good read but I feel it could have been developed more which will hopefully happen in the next book.
****.5
