This is the unboxing of the February 2020 FairyLoot box. (What follows will contain spoilers so please do not read if you don't want to know what is in the box)
FairyLoot is a monthly book subscription box mainly focusing on fantasy YA and YA crossovers. Each month you receive a new release book, mostly hardback and 4-6 bookish items which fit in with the theme.
The theme this month was Rulebreakers
(Spoiler filled post under the cut)
The first item was a beautiful mug with Serpent and Dove artwork on it by @merwildandco, it was very pretty. And the little sketch on the inside was by @taratjah.
Next there was a Lord of the Rings inspired luggage tag by @bookmarkd.tattoos and @loveyoumorestudio. And a Wicked Saints inspired lipbalm by Fairyloot which smells amazing.
Next up there was a gorgeous scarf with a design by @taratjah inspired by Sorcery of Thorns and a bookmark and sticker set by @noverantale inspired by Nevernight. These were my favourite items!
The last item before the tarot cards was an art print of characters from We hunt the flame also by @noverantale.
As always the box included the two latest tarot cards - this time they were Lazlo and Sorai from Strange the Dreamer. This months cards were designed by @gabriella.bujdoso.
The book this month was The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller which was signed directly by the author, had an exclusive purple design and artwork on the dustjacket, a purple embossed hardback and included an author letter with additional artwork.
Synopsis:
They still haven't found the body of the first and only boy who broke Alessandra's heart - and they never will. Since then, all of her relationships have been purely physical. And now at eighteen years old, Alessandra is ready for more. The plan is simple: 1. Make the king fall in love with her. 2. Get him to marry her. 3. Kill him and take his kingdom for herself. It's no small task, but Alessandra wants a kingdom and is going to do everything within her power to get it. She knows the freshly crowned Shadow King will be her toughest target yet. Shrouded in a mysterious power, no one is allowed to touch him. But, as forces combine to try and keep Alessandra from earning the king's heart, she wonders if perhaps she's already lost her own.
I thought this box was pretty good, I was not a fan of the book the mug design was based on which was a shame but I adored the Nevernight and Sorcery of Thorns inspired items.
