In this post I am going to be unboxing the May 2017 Book Box Club box. (What follows will contain spoilers so please do not read if you don't want to know what is in the box)
Book Box Club is a monthly book subscription box. Each month you receive a specially selected YA book release and 2-4 hand picked goodies which fit in with the theme. Book Box Club also hosts a members only online book club where subscribers get a chance to chat to each other as well as the author about the book.
The theme this month was Wizards at War. (Spoiler filled post under the cut)
Inside the box was a personalised bath bomb which was in a little black bag with my name on it and the bomb itself had been wrapped in tissue paper. I don't have a bath but I am looking forward to using this when I next visit a hotel or a friend with a bath.
Then there was a little notebook with a Gandalf-unicorn design on the front of it and two bookish pencils with the following quotes on them - 'Unashamedly bookish' and 'After all this time. Always'
Next up was a Dumbledore pin from The Potter Emporium and A Darker Shade of Magic print by SipandRead. I loved both of these items as I obviously love Harry Potter and most recently I've read and adored the Darker Shade of Magic trilogy.
There were 4 tarot cards included which linked to the book in the box and also a map of Sarah J Maas' Court of Thorns and Roses world. There were also a couple of little adverts one for the etsy shop where the notepad was from and one advertising a new book.
The book this month was Spellslinger by Sebastien de Castell. Also included was a signed bookplate from the author which I always love.
Synopsis:
Kellen is moments away from facing his first mage's duel and the start of four trials that will make him a spellcaster. There's just one problem: his magic is gone.
As his sixteenth birthday approaches, Kellen falls back on his cunning in a bid to avoid total disgrace. But when a daring stranger arrives in town, she challenges Kellen to take a different path.
Ferius Parfax is one of the mysterious Argosi - a traveller who lives by her wits and the three decks of cards she carries. She's difficult and unpredictable, but she may be Kellen's only hope...

This was a brilliant box and I love everything especially the print and the pin. I cannot wait to read the book as it sounds really fun and interesting. This month Book Box Club also ran a photo competition to get an extra item in the box - sadly I didn't win this time but hopefully there will be more chances like that in the future.
June's box is called Schoolroom Scandals, I have no idea what the book is though it sounds more contemporary which will be interesting as I tend to read fantasy and science fiction exclusively.
(I did a video of this unboxing which can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpL070PDpqQ)
