Fairyloot Unboxing - April 2017

This is my April 2017 FairyLoot unboxing, the box finally got to me after some unexplained delays by the courier. (What follows will contain spoilers so please do not read if you don't want to know what is in the box)

FairyLoot is a monthly book subscription box mainly focusing on fantasy YA and YA crossovers. Each month you receive a new release book, mostly hardback, and 4-6 bookish items which fit in with the theme.

The theme this month was Dreams and Wishes (Spoiler filled post under the cut)

As always the first thing I saw in the box was the spoiler card which I handed to my mum since she always opens it with me (On the reverse is a list of what the items in the box are and where they all came from)

The first item was in a really cute mini Fairyloot box of it's own and it was a mug with a quote on it from A Court of Mist and Fury which reads 'To the stars who listen and the dreams that are answered' It was designed by Risa Rodil and the bonus is it is both microwave and dishwasher safe. The colour is absolutely gorgeous and as I adore the Court series I plan to use it for the first time when the last book comes out next week.

Next I pulled out a candle called Reverie by Meraki Candles which smells of Mint, Marshmallow and Candy Floss. It is absolutely lovely, very sweet with the mint just in the underlying smells. I am looking forward to lighting the candle very soon.

The next three items were a Gemstone notebook by Portico, there were 12 designs available relating to a different birthstone. I got Diamond which is April, my birth month is June but the design is really pretty so I don't mind. Then there was a small enamel pin with a jar of dreams on it by House of Wonderland and lastly a magnet by Fairyloot which says Follow your dreams they know the way.

There were two promotional cards included this month which were for Hunted by Meagan Spooner and Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer. Both of these are fairytale retellings which seems to be a theme recently.

The last additional item in the box was a lovely and sturdy tote bag designed by Miss Phi with a quote on it which reads 'Madness is a matter of perspective little dreamer' from The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon (The Mime Order is the second in Samantha Shannon's Bone Season series)

The book this month was Given to the Sea by Mindy McGinnis.

Synopsis:

Kings and Queens rise and fall, loyalties collide, and romance blooms in a world where the sea is rising--and cannot be escaped.

Khosa is Given to the Sea, a girl born to be fed to the water, her flesh preventing a wave like the one that destroyed the Kingdom of Stille in days of old. But before she's allowed to dance an uncontrollable twitching of the limbs that will carry her to the shore in a frenzy--she must produce an heir. Yet the thought of human touch sends shudders down her spine that not even the sound of the tide can match.

Vincent is third in line to inherit his throne, royalty in a kingdom where the old linger and the young inherit only boredom. When Khosa arrives without an heir he knows his father will ensure she fulfills her duty, at whatever cost. Torn between protecting the throne he will someday fill, and the girl whose fate is tied to its very existence, Vincent's loyalty is at odds with his heart.

Dara and Donil are the last of the Indiri, a native race whose dwindling magic grows weaker as the island country fades. Animals cease to bear young, creatures of the sea take to the land, and the Pietra--fierce fighters who destroyed the Indiri a generation before--are now marching from their stony shores for the twin's adopted homeland, Stille.

Witt leads the Pietra, their army the only family he has ever known. The stone shores harbor a secret, a growing threat that will envelop the entire land--and he will conquer every speck of soil to ensure the survival of his people.

The tides are turning in Stille, where royals scheme, Pietrans march, and the rising sea calls for its Given.

Also included was a letter from the author and a signed bookplate.

This was a lovely box and I was happy with everything in it. I liked the return of themed items included and while I adore the mug because it's one of my favourite series I also loved the tote bag despite not having read the series because it's a lovely quote.
