In this post I am going to be unboxing the July 2017 Book Box Club box. (What follows will contain spoilers so please do not read if you don't want to know what is in the box)
Book Box Club is a monthly book subscription box. Each month you receive a specially selected YA book release and 2-4 hand picked goodies which fit in with the theme. Book Box Club also hosts a members only online book club where subscribers get a chance to chat to each other as well as the author about the book.
The theme this month was Spells and Remedies. (Spoiler filled post under the cut)
Inside the box was some bunting with sky, potion bottles and script designs on them along with some tea called Hocus Focus by Bluebird Tea Co. The bunting was pretty and is now hanging in my spare room, sadly the tea is far too strong and spicy for me which was a shame.
Next up was a soap with a pine scent called Cabeswater (which is from Maggie Stiefvater's Raven Boys series) and a pocket mirror with a cute design of a girl reading under a tree. This design was by a Book Box Club member called Moon and is really adorable.
Finally there was a bookmark with a Shakespeare quote on it which was really nice. There was also a few things from publishers advertising future book releases.
The book this month was The Disappearances by Emily Bain Murphy. Also included was a signed bookplate from the author.
Synopsis:
Every seven years something disappears in the remote town of Sterling: people's reflections, the stars in the sky, the ability to dream. Aila realises that her mother may be to blame for the curse. But some mysteries are buried very deep and some secrets want to stay hidden - and one young woman's desire to uncover the truth may not be enough to save Sterling from the past.
Like last month the book included was a paperback and while the items are nice it felt a bit light which was a shame. I do think the bookish items need to be upped a little to make it worth the value. Of course it wasn't helped this time by the fact that I couldn't use the tea due to disliking the flavour so that is one item less that I can get use out of.
August's box is called Fearless Females, I have no idea what the book is but it sounds great and I am super excited for it. I am hoping for a Princess Leia inspired item! :D
